Photography
Our photography focuses on boosting visual and emotional resonance by capturing the essence of the organization and student stories. It represents the WGU experience across colleges, staff, alumni, and student stories using WGU students, employees, models, and actors. The photography style is cinematic with a vibrant impact.
Our in-house photography is used across channels to maintain brand consistency; however, stock photo requests are reviewed for individual approvals on a case-by-case basis. Campaign photography should always adhere to the campaign look and feel standards, which may include a limited photography selection per campaign.

Photography Usage
(Note: Please contact the creative department for any photo needs outside of our image library.)
- Do not modify, stretch, edit, adjust, tint, or apply filters to any photography.
- Do not retouch the portrait’s face. Minor retouching of hair is acceptable.
- When selecting photographs, follow our DE&I initiatives. Selections of photography should represent racial, gender, age, ability, academic, and professional diversity, when applicable.
Photoshoot Edit Guidelines
- Ensure that you have proper approvals from the creative department before editing any photography.
- Images are individually color-graded to emphasize authentic skin tones and color balance. Images should focus on capturing accurate skin tones.
- Highlights should be controlled to prevent overexposure.
- Gently brighten shadows to unveil subtle details and depth.
- No retouching of cosmetic imperfections. We embrace the grit and textures captured.
- You may modify distracting or unnecessary background elements (for example: dust, coffee cups, display screens, and tape).
- You may adjust or expand the photo composition to accommodate asset needs.
Photo Filters
One way to maintain a consistent look and feel across imagery is using photo filters. Our filter presets allow us to use images from multiple sources and make them appear more similar to one another.
You can reach out to the Creative Team with any questions about existing filter presets.
