Patterns are a visual expression that can aid in creating bold, energetic compositions. They can be used to fill space or used as a low-contrast background. While it is best to position our logos and text over a plain background, they may be placed over an uncluttered background that provides sufficient contrast.


Our brand patterns and prints can create separation and elevate the WGU brand. Our custom patterns and prints have been designed to represent WGU and enrich the overall identity package. Logo patterns and prints should be limited to backdrop usage only.

DOs

  • Use them to draw attention to the composition or as a solo backdrop.
  • Use the color palette variations offered in the patterns and prints package.

DON'Ts

  • Do not overuse patterns. They should be used sparingly to draw the viewer’s eye.
  • Do not modify, stretch, apply effects, or overlap patterns and prints in any way. 
  • Do not create new patterns and prints. Additions to the library are implemented by the Creative Team only.
  • Do not use multiple patterns and prints on a single asset, excluding web pages. Never place two patterns and prints next to each other. 
  • Do not place copy or graphics on a pattern—unless approved by the Creative Team.
